How To Improve The Launch Angle Of Your Driver

How to Improve the launch angle of your driver. In this video golf tip, Australian PGA Golf Professional Brian Fitzgerald “The Golf Doctor” shows you a simple way to improve the launch angle with your driver. Increasing the launch angle will lead to you hitting longer shots.

Hello.
I’m Brian Fitzgerald The Golf Doctor.

Today I’m going to talk about how you can improve the launch angle with your driver.

I hope you enjoy the tip.

How do we improve launch angle with a driver?

There is actually a few different ways.

One of my favourite ways is to actually use a golf ball box.

So what we do here is I set up a golf ball box and I move it 2 lengths in front of the golf ball.

I then tee the golf ball up. And then I take my set up.

I’ve got the ball teed up nice and high as you can see there.

And I want to position the ball further forward in my stance.

Because if I position it in the middle of my stance. That’s going to encourage me to hit down on the ball, rather than what we want to improve launch angle which we want to hit up on the ball.

So by teeing the ball higher, by moving the ball forward in my stance I should be able to swing, make contact with the ball there and from there my driver should be coming up so I shouldn’t make contact with that golf ball box if I do it correctly.

So let’s see how I go?

So there you have it. I have actually hit the golf ball and I haven’t touched the box.

So that’s really improved my launch angle. So if you play around with it. You might want to be able to tee the ball a little higher, not too much lower.

Play around with tee height. Play around with how far forward you can go. And you’ll find that ball launches up there nice and high.

Thank you for letting me help you with your golf.

If you can have a launch angle of somewhere between 12 and 14 degrees you can maximise the carry you get with your driver. This allows the ball to power through the apex of the golf balls flight and giving you some run when the ball lands.

A lot of people hit down on the ball which is described as a negative angle of attack. This increases the spin rate of the golf ball and as a result the ball peaks at the apex of it’s flight and then falls out of the sky. leading to a shorter golf shot.
