Golfer Elbow or Medial epicondylitis is a common issue where the muscles that flex your wrist and control your gripping strength and fingers sustain injury. Usually caused by overuse. Symptoms of pain to the inside of the elbow present when gripping things or stretching.
Medial epicondylitis (golfer’s elbow) is a type of tendonitis, a condition marked by inflammation or irritation of a tendon. In the case of medial epicondylitis, overuse or injury causes small tears in the tendon that connects the elbow to the wrist.
These tears cause swelling of the tendon and pain. A person with medial epicondylitis typically experiences pain when they bend the wrist toward the forearm. Whereas a person with lateral epicondylitis typically experiences pain when they bend the wrist away from the forearm.
Symptoms of medial and lateral epicondylitis may develop slowly, particularly when the condition has been brought on by overuse … and by the time the issue is properly diagnosed, it’s often too late! People can develop symptoms suddenly after injury.
Symptoms associated with medial epicondylitis may be mild or severe. Some include:
⚠️Pain when flexing the wrist toward the forearm
⚠️Pain that extends from the inside of the elbow through the wrist to the pinky
⚠️A weak grip or wrist
⚠️Pain when shaking hands
⚠️Difficulty moving the elbow

In severe cases the chronic golfers elbow will cause degenerative changes to the muscle tissue. Chronic issues are not caused by inflammation. it’s actually caused by changes in the muscle and tendon fibres due to the severity of the injury.
Unfortunately, no movement or stimulus is often worse than too much stimulus … and often the right exercises are the same exercises that can aggravate it. Therefore, a careful and intelligent method of exercise, intensity and frequency selection is required.
