Golf Tip: Baseball Drill by Roger Fredericks

In all sports activities (and golf IS a sports activity), there is no substitute for balance, rhythm, and timing. Because the human body was designed with 2 hip joints, it will function maximally when both hips are utilized during a sports motion. This can only be accomplished when the Center of Gravity – which is contained in the weight – flows naturally bi laterally (hip to hip – side to side).

Keeping the weight on one leg robs the body of what’s called Segmental Velocity; which is the gradual build up of energy which occurs during the backswing – and then unleashed on the forward swing. (Think of a wave moving to shore as it gradually builds force and power as it’s about to crash onto the shore). The surfer is actually waiting to ‘catch the wave’ and then go with it.

Although there are countless ways to swing a golf club, shifting the weight in BALANCE is the best way to develop greater Distance and becoming more Consistent.

Practicing the Baseball Drill above will certainly help you feel what it’s like to move properly and develop much greater rhythm and Power.

And having a flexible torso will certainly allow your body to move naturally. Again, it’s nature’s natural way of swinging and after all IT’S NOT NICE TO FOOL MOTHER NATURE!!
